Community
Our people go the extra mile for causes they believe in.

We are keen on sharing our expertise, skills and resources within our communities, often working together with partners to achieve maximum effect.

People always work hard for things they believe in, so we let our people choose the charities and causes they wish to support, whether they are national or local.

What’s more we offer an added incentive. We’ll match any funds collected by an individual up to £250 and by a team up to £1,000.

Macmillan Cancer Support was our national charity partner from March 2009 to March 2011. We worked hard to build a strong relationship with them and raised over £110,000 over the last two years. Our national charity partner for 2011 is Alzheimer’s Research Trust, the UK’s leading research charity for dementia. We have every confidence that this partnership will be as successful as our relationship with Macmillan.

A great deal was done for local causes too via our volunteering programme, ‘stepforward’. The programme, encourages our people to take two days per year of company time to volunteer in the community. In 2010, 458 people took part in projects, which equates to over 3,650 hours. These included participating in a ‘Number and Reading Partners’ programme, which aims to boost the learning skills of primary school children in Edinburgh.

Our Community Strategy covers four core themes and has been developed to guide the ways in which we can positively impact on the Community, whilst engaging our employees and members.
