Actuarial Opportunities

Who are we?

Royal London is the UK's largest mutual life and pensions company with £32.7bn funds under management, serving around three million customers. We employ 2,570 people, primarily in our main offices in Wilmslow, Edinburgh and the City of London. We offer a range of pensions, life assurance and other protection insurance and savings and investment products, which are distributed principally through independent financial advisers under the Scottish Life and Bright Grey brands.

What we can offer you

Our actuaries and actuarial students occupy key positions right across the Group. As you would expect from such a diverse company, we have a range of roles in which our actuarial students operate, including financial reporting, projects, investigations, pricing and pensions consultancy, depending on location. We operate a rotation policy within sites to give our actuarial students experience of a number of different disciplines. As well as the traditional actuarial areas, our actuaries work in a number of other fields where they apply their actuarial skills to bring a fresh perspective to solving business problems.

Royal London can offer you a highly competitive salary and benefits package, combined with support, training and development, and a company culture that will allow you to get the most out of your career.

What we are looking for

We have vacancies in our Wilmslow office.  To succeed in an actuarial career with Royal London you will need to have:

  • an excellent academic record, including a minimum of a 2:2 in a mathematical degree or a 2:1 in a non mathematical degree and strong results in A-Level/Higher Mathematics and English (or equivalent)
  • good communication and team-working skills
  • strong problem-solving skills
  • the drive to succeed, both in actuarial exams and developing your business knowledge

We do not normally recruit trainees with exemptions from the actuarial professional exams at our Wilmslow office. It is essential that applicants are eligible to work in the UK permanently.
