Bright Grey crowned Employer of the Year

Wednesday, 1 July 2009

Bright Grey, a protection specialist within the Royal London Group, has won the coveted title of Employer of the Year at this year's National Business Awards for Scotland. Over 400 business leaders and guests attended the awards ceremony, in Glasgow, on Wednesday 24 June 2009, to celebrate the success of innovative, ethical and resilient businesses.

Bright Grey beat off competition from a strong cast of nine finalists to win the sought-after award, awarded to the organisation that can best demonstrate how it has applied its human and supporting resources to achieve commercial success.

Gordon Watson, Operations Director at Bright Grey said:

"Our people are at the heart of our business and winning this award is fantastic recognition of the hard work we've put in to our employee engagement programmes. Our strategy is aligned to the premise that the service we provide to IFAs is directly linked to the experience of Bright Grey employees. And investment in our employees benefits our overall customer service.

"The award is testament to a real team effort and input from colleagues across the Royal London Group who have helped us deliver innovative programmes like 'walking in their shoes', where staff spend time experiencing other roles in different teams to deepen their understanding of colleagues' roles, to initiatives like inviting IFAs to deliver training sessions to our staff, to ensure that our people are fully aware of the needs of our customers and have an understanding of the ideal customer experience."

Lorraine Agnew, Programme Director of the awards said:

"The quality of this year's entrants has been outstanding in what has undoubtedly been a challenging year. Each success story that has emerged through the awards this year is paving the way for prosperous businesses and collectively playing a crucial part in restoring confidence."
