Bright Grey fundraisers leap to raise vital funds for Barnardo’s

Kind hearted staff from Edinburgh-based protection specialist Bright Grey have raised over £9000 for Barnardo's Scotland. Bright Grey's believe team held 'From Edinburgh with Love' a leap year themed evening at Le Monde, Edinburgh on Friday 29 February. The event was to raise funds for Barnardo's local residential service RAFT which is for children in Edinburgh of a primary school age whose circumstances prevent them being accommodated elsewhere.
The service provided at RAFT enables these young people to engage in social activities and provides opportunities to build their self-esteem and confidence and learn how to interact in social situations. These funds raised will support recreational events for the children such as camping trips, football and dance lessons.
The Bright Grey 'believe' fundraising team is made up of Leanne McCabe, Gail McKinstry, Gary Munkton, Robyn Dearden and Emma Philips. The team named themselves the 'believe team' as they believe that every child regardless of background has an equal right to support and opportunities.
Gail McKinstry of the Bright Grey 'believe' team said: "We're a small team of people who work for Bright Grey in Edinburgh, who are passionate about helping our local children and believe that every child deserves the best start in life. It was an extremely successful night."
The glamorous event was attended by almost 150 Bright Grey staff. In keeping with the leap year, a live marriage proposal took place on the night. A live auction had the audience bidding for prizes including holiday vouchers, spa days and a signed Scotland Rugby ball. The crowd were also kept entertained with a fun money casino and swing dancing lessons. Jennifer Black from ITV drama 'Rebus' made a guest appearance on the night. Jennifer being Scottish is a keen supporter of Barnardo's Scotland.
Katie Waddell of Barnardo's Scotland said: "I would like to extend a huge thank you on behalf of Barnardo's Scotland. The Bright Grey believe team have raised vital funds for RAFT and we are really impressed with all the hard work and enthusiasm that the team have shown".
